The TRUth about Lip Filler gone wrong...

If you're thinking "I hate my Lip filler!" then it’s time to dissolve your lip filler.

It's not all that uncommon to feel like having lip filler placed was a mistake. The result may not have been what you expected or maybe you've changed your mind about the look you wish to achieve. Whatever the reason, you can always dissolve lip filler.

Let's review some Lip Filler dissolving FAQs.

How can I dissolve my Lip Filler?

Lip filler dissolving is a treatment that can be used to quickly and safely get rid of hyaluronic acid lip filler.

Following a quick skin test (usually the inner part of your forearm) to ensure the product will not cause an allergic reaction, an enzyme – called hyaluronidase – is injected into the lip bodies the same way as the hyaluronic acid lip filler. This enzyme occurs naturally in the body. In fact, it’s the reason why hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are temporary and gradually start to fade away over time. But since naturally occurring hyaluronidase exists only in low levels in the body, the process of filler degradation is lengthy. It can take 6-24 months before your body completely eliminates the filler from your lips. This is good news if you’re happy with your results and want your lip filler to last.

Lip filler dissolving with Hylenex speeds this elimination process up. A concentrated dose of hyaluronidase is administered into the lips, where it rapidly breaks down the hyaluronic acid in the filler formula. This acid is then carried away by your body’s natural systems and the lips return to their normal appearance.

If you’d like to dissolve your lip fillers, and return to your natural lip shape, look no further than our medspa in Philadelphia. While hyaluronic acid filler can produce beautiful results (in the right hands), we believe that patients should have the right to reverse their lip augmentation if they wish to do so.

When will hyaluronidase start working?

The enzyme gets to work very quickly, rapidly breaking down the hyaluronic acid in the dermal filler. As such, you should start to notice the results of lip dissolving within the first 24-48 hours.

But it’s important keep in mind, immediately after the treatment, there may be some slight swelling. This can take a couple of days to settle. Therefore, we usually advise that you allow two weeks for the full results to appear, at which point you will have a review appointment with the nurse.

Is there downtime after my lip filler dissolving procedure?

No, there’s very little downtime with this treatment.

Your lips will be a little tender, swollen and bruised immediately after you’ve received the hyaluronidase injections. But these side effects are usually very minor and will settle quickly over a few days. In fact, most people can return to work and their normal activities the following day.

How many treatments will I need to completely dissolve my lip filler?

The number of treatments will depend on the amount of filler that needs to be dissolved. For some people, one session is enough to dissolve their lip fillers. For others, two or more sessions may be required. Your specific expectations and results will be discussed in detail at the first consultation.

Will dissolving my lip filler hurt?

Lips are a very sensitive part of the face and although lip dissolving is not entirely pain-free, we can apply a numbing cream to the area beforehand to make it as comfortable as possible for you.

After dissolving lip filler, it’s best to wait at least two weeks before you can have them retreated with dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid). This is to ensure there is no hyaluronidase left in the lips, which could potentially break down the new filler and have a negative impact on the results.

How much will it cost to dissolve lip fillers?

The typical price to dissolve lip filler in Philadelphia varies. At TRU Form Skin Lab lip filler dissolving costs $150-300 per session depending on how many units of hyaluronidase you need.
